Moving from an old site

Move the content

System → Export and import. One section for moving from site to site and from an old engine:

• an archive of this engine (.zip): pages, news, files and tags from one Nex1on site to another;
• a WordPress export (.xml) and a table (.csv): entries from an old site.

An archive is first only checked: you see what will be created, updated and skipped, and nothing is written. You can apply it with the same file (no need to upload it a second time) after entering your password again; everything is applied at once, nothing is left half-done. An entry with the same address is left as it is by default; the “overwrite” checkbox hands it over to the archive.

Personal and secret data never go into an archive: no user accounts, orders, emails, form submissions, subscribers, keys or passwords. The PHP extension zip is required.

Move the whole site to another hosting

Copy the files to the new hosting (together with config/local.php and public/uploads/) and the database (the “Make a copy” button, then phpMyAdmin on the new hosting), and enter the new database credentials in config/database.php. The engine is not tied to a domain: it builds addresses from the name it was reached by. Do not change the site key app.key from config/local.php: encrypted settings (the mail password, the captcha key) depend on it, and with a different key you will have to enter them again. If the site is updated with a licence key and the domain changes, write to us and we will bind the key to the new one.

Keep your search rankings

Site management → SEO & accessibility → Redirects. Old addresses keep working: you specify what was and what is now.

In the old address you can use “*” and in the new one “$1”…“$3”: the rule “/old/*” → “/new/$1” moves a whole section with one line. Only letters, digits and the characters “._~%-/” are carried over.

Without this, a move costs the owner the search rankings earned over years. The engine counts how many times each redirect was used, so the list shows which addresses are still alive.
