Newsletter: five looks and where to choose
The subscription form can be a card, a banner, a window, one line or a button with a window; the look is chosen in the module’s settings or by a tag, and every theme has its own default.
Section: Admin → Settings → Newsletter settings, the field “Subscription style”. The “Newsletter” module is turned on in Add-ons → Modules.
Five looks
- Card in the sidebar — the familiar form in the side column.
- Full-width banner — under the page content.
- Window at the bottom right — appears when half of the page is read or after 30 seconds. Closed or subscribed, it does not come back. The window does not cover the cookie banner and moves off the footer; on a phone it is a compact strip “title and button”, and the form opens on a press.
- One line: field and button — one row under the content.
- Button that opens a window — the form in a window on a press.
Where to choose
In the field “Subscription style” choose the look for the whole site. “As in the theme” leaves the choice to the theme: each theme has the look that suits its character. All looks except the card sit under the page content (the block “Subscription below the content”).
One block your own way
In a tag the look is set by the parameter vid: {block:subscribe.form vid=strip}. The values are card, strip, popup, row, button; empty means as in the settings and in the theme.
What stays with the visitor
The window remembers only one mark in the visitor’s browser (“closed”), with no tracking. Esc closes the window, and it does not take the focus away from the visitor.
