Hints about missing modules
If a theme places a block of a module that is not on the site, the owner sees a hint with a button in its place; the “Themes” screen, the wizard and “Before launch” also say what is missing. Visitors see nothing.
Section: Admin → Appearance → Themes; the switch is in Settings → Site → “Hints about missing modules”.
Where the hint comes from
A theme declares in its theme.json whose blocks it places in its templates (the field recommends). If such a module is not on the site, the place for its block is empty. So that this does not look like a fault, the owner gets a hint.
Where you will see it
- On the “Themes” screen a theme says which modules it lacks, with the buttons “Install”, “Turn on” or “Find in catalog”.
- In the setup wizard the chosen theme marks such modules in words.
- On the site itself, in the place of the block, a dashed note with the same button and the link “Hide hint”; the link “Hide all hints of this theme” removes them all.
- A line in “Before launch”.
Who sees it and for how long
The note is seen only by those who manage modules (visitors and guests never; such a page is not cached). The hints on the site last two weeks after choosing the theme, after that only the line in “Before launch” remains. A module you turned off yourself is left alone; installing the module removes the hint about it.
How to turn it off
Clear the switch “Hints about missing modules” in Settings → Site, the tab “Look and locale”: all such notes disappear.
