Since version 0.9.7 the engine updates from the admin panel, without FTP. The update runs in two steps on purpose: files first, then the database. In between you should check that the site still opens.

Before updating

• Enter your licence key under "Settings → General → Updates → Licence key". Without the key the engine will show what is new but will not let you download it.
• Read the release notes: they say whether there are migrations and whether anything must be done by hand.
• If you are skipping several versions, read the notes for every version you skipped.

Step 1. Files

"Updates → Engine" → "Check for updates" → "Download and install". The engine downloads the archive, verifies its size and SHA-256 fingerprint and replaces its own files. The files being replaced are copied to a backup first. Settings, uploaded files and the database are not touched.

Step 2. Database

Open the site and make sure it works. Then, on the same page, press "Back up and apply": the engine makes a full database backup and applies the migrations. If a migration stops, the database stays as it was, and the backup is under "System health → Database backups".

Modules

Modules update the same way, on the "Updates → Modules from our site" tab.

Older versions (before 0.9.7)

Download the archive, upload the files over the old ones (leave the config and storage folders alone) and press "Update" in the admin panel.
