Licence Agreement

This is an agreement between the NEX1ON studio ("the studio", "we") and the person who has obtained the NEX1ON engine ("you"). It is written in plain language, because it is meant to be understood, not just signed. By downloading, installing or using the engine, you accept these terms.

1. What NEX1ON is

NEX1ON is a PHP website engine that is supplied as source code and installed on your hosting. It runs on your side, on your server, with your database. We do not host your site and have no access to it.

2. What the licence gives you

A licence is a key of the form NX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX, which you enter in the panel under "Settings → General → Updates → Licence key". The key gives you the right to:

• receive engine updates from our server directly in the panel, for the whole term of the licence;
• install and update modules from our server, for the same term;
• download release and module archives on this site after signing in with the email address the licence was issued to;
• ask questions in the "Purchases and licences" section of the forum and in the support sections.

3. One key, one site

A key is issued to a person and works on one domain. A fresh licence is not tied to anything: the first site that comes for an update with this key claims it. A second domain using the same key will not receive updates.

Moving to another domain is an ordinary matter: write to us and we will unlink the key from the old domain. Subdomains of the main domain count as the same site. A second site needs a second key.

4. Term

A licence is bought for one year, for two years, or for good. The term runs from the date the key was issued and is shown in the panel under "Updates → Engine".

When the term ends, the engine keeps working: nothing is switched off, nothing is blocked, nothing nags you. The only thing that stops is updates and modules from our server. Renewing brings them back.

5. The engine without a key

Without a key the engine works in full: every bundled module, every theme, the panel, the installer. It is not limited in time or in features. The one thing it cannot do is fetch an update or a module from our server. So you can try the engine before buying, and what you buy is updates and support.

6. What you may do with the code

• Read, study and modify the engine's source code for your own site.
• Write your own modules and themes and install them on your site.
• Make backups.
• Move the engine to another hosting provider and another domain (see section 3).

7. What you may not do

• Pass the engine, parts of it, modules from our server or the licence key on to other people, whether for money or for free.
• Publish the engine's source code or sell it under your own or anyone else's name.
• Remove mentions of the NEX1ON studio from the code. The "Powered by NEX1ON" line in the site footer is switched off with a setting, and that is allowed.
• Use one key on several sites or guess other people's keys.

Your own modules and themes are yours: we make no claim to what you wrote yourself.

8. Updates

The engine asks our server on its own whether a new version is out, shows the list of changes and waits for you to press the button. Without that press it installs nothing. What is sent to the server during the check is described in the privacy policy.

Before updating, the engine makes a copy of the database by itself; we still advise making your own copy before every update.

9. Support

Support goes through the forum: the studio answers there, and the answer stays for others. Bugs in the engine we fix in the following releases. Changes to your site, data recovery, hosting setup and custom module development are not part of the licence.

10. Warranties and liability

The engine is supplied as is. We build it carefully and test it before every release, but we cannot promise that it will suit every task and every hosting provider and never fail. We are not liable for losses, lost profit or loss of data resulting from using the engine or being unable to use it. In any case, the studio's liability is limited to the amount you paid for the licence.

11. Termination

We may disable a key if the terms are breached — for example, if one key is being handed out to several sites, or the code is being sold under someone else's name. A disabled key stops unlocking updates; an engine that is already installed keeps working.

12. Changes to the terms

The terms may change along with the engine. A new version is published on this page; for licences already bought, the terms in force at the time of purchase apply until the end of their term.

13. How to get a key

A licence is bought in the shop on this site. After purchase the key arrives by email at the address you gave, and you enter it in the panel of your site. Questions about buying, renewing and moving: support@nex1on.com.
