Moving the site to another address (domain)
How to change the site address without losing links, e-mails or search rankings: “System → Move to another address”.
When you need it
The site moves to another domain, or from http to https, and entries, menus, blocks and settings still hold links with the old address. The wizard changes them all at once and safely.
How it goes
1. Open “System → Move to another address” (owner only). The old address is filled in; type the new one — just the name with https:// (no path, login or parameters).
2. Press “Trial run”: it writes nothing and shows, table by table, how many rows and links will change, with examples.
3. Read the “Licence” block: the key is tied to a domain. If the new address is not in the key, the site switches to the free edition after the move until the key is moved.
4. The wizard checks that the new address really answers with this very site (otherwise password reset e-mails would go to a stranger). Until the check passes “Apply” is off; if the DNS is still moving you can confirm without the check — it is written to the log and e-mailed to the owners.
5. Type the new domain name, enter your password and apply. A database copy is made first; no verified copy — no change.
6. After the move go through the checklist: return addresses of social sign-in and payment systems, the cookie domain, mail (SPF, DKIM), search consoles, certificate and CDN.
What is not changed
Accounts, sign-in keys and tokens, logs, the queue, statistics, orders and payments, encrypted values. E-mail addresses and plain mentions of the name without http:// are not links and stay.
The old address
While the old name still points to this same site, the wizard can answer it with a 301 redirect to the same path on the new address. If the old name lives elsewhere, make the 301 there: the wizard shows ready pieces for .htaccess and nginx.
If something goes wrong
The database can be restored from the copy made before the replacement, in “Database copies”. On a failure the address in the config file stays the old one, and the wizard names the copy file.
