How NEX1ON began: stages 0.1–0.7

The first seven versions of NEX1ON appeared in a single evening, 6 September 2026, between twenty minutes and an hour apart. They were not releases for installation but stages: each added a layer on which the next one rests. None of them was distributed as a separate archive — the first version built for installation is 0.9.0.

Stages

• 0.1.0 — core. Routes, a database with a table prefix, migrations that track their source, events and filters, translations into three languages, theme templates. Its own autoloader without composer, so the engine installs by unpacking an archive.
• 0.2.0 — accounts. Roles and permissions in three layers, sessions stored in the database, sign-in by email or username, sign-in attempt limits, mail.
• 0.3.0 — admin panel. Users, roles, settings, change log and error log. The panel lives in the core and opens with any theme.
• 0.4.0 — modules and themes. Installing, enabling and removing modules with version and dependency checks, maintenance mode, the first module — “Pages”.
• 0.5.0 — design from the panel. Theme variables are changed without editing stylesheets; values are checked against an allowlist.
• 0.6.0 — places in themes. A module places itself in the header, sidebar or footer; module packaging with seven checks.
• 0.7.0 — media library. Folders, thumbnails and strict rules for accepting files: the engine assigns the name, the type is determined by content, images are re-encoded.

On the night of 7 September 0.8.0 came out — installation through a wizard in the browser and updates from the panel. From this version on, the engine can be installed without the command line.
