Themes

Site management → Appearance. A theme does not need to be installed: it has no tables and no data. Just make it active.

Appearance → Colours & fonts — colours, fonts, corner rounding, width. Everything changes without editing any styles.

Appearance → Home & blocks — where module blocks go: into the sidebar, under the header, into the footer. Turn a module on and its block is already where it belongs; you can move or hide it here.

These themes ship with the engine:

Most themes have no templates at all — only styles, an icon and theme.json. That is what it means for the design to be separate from the code: a theme changes the whole look without touching a single module. The exception is “Side rail”: it has one tag file with the page frame (menu on the left, content on the right), written in safe tags without PHP. It is a model you can start your own theme from.

Your own look without PHP, and single module blocks

You can redo a theme page without touching PHP: next to the views there are tag files *.tpl.html (the path inside the theme repeats the path of the view, for example views/layouts/main.tpl.html is the page frame). In them you write ordinary markup and tags such as {site_name}, [if:user.logged]…[/if], [each:menu]…[/each]. There are no scripts, function calls or file includes there, so a mistake in such a file does not bring the site down: while the file is missing or has not passed the check, the regular view works. All tags with examples are in the documentation on the site (the “Tags” section and the “Views on tags” page).

Need not a whole module but one of its blocks — latest records, a comment count, a bookmark button? Open the module in the panel, the “Output on the site” tab: it lists what you can put on any page and gives a ready snippet for each. A snippet is one line in a tag file, for example {block:news.count what=news period=week}; a disabled module outputs nothing in place of its block. The same list for all modules is in the reference, on the “Module output on the site” page.
