Custom sections

What you can insert into a template from the “Custom sections” module: blocks and lists with parameters and examples.

Section entries (list) — content.entries

A list of entries of any of your own sections for custom markup: title, address, excerpt, date, cover (the first picture field of the section), year, genre, rating and all public fields of the section ({item.field:name}). A section with no entries, or a closed one, gives an empty list. Kind: list for your own markup; works on any page.

ParameterMeaningDefault
typeSection: its name (for example movies); if the address has a hyphen, use an underscore
limitHow many to show. From 1 to 30.6
sortOrder: new — newest, old — oldest, title — by title, popular — by the "views" field, rating — by the "rating" field, year — by the "year" field (without such a numeric field — as new) Values: new, old, title, popular, rating, year.new
categoryFilter by the value of the "category" field, or "genre" if there is none (for a choice field — the value key, for example drama)

Inside the list: {item.title} {item.url} {item.excerpt} {item.date} {item.cover} {item.cover_large} {item.year} {item.genre} {item.rating} {item.field:*} {item.fieldlabel:*}.

Example:

[each:list:content_entries:type:movies:sort:new:limit:6]
  <a href="{item.url}"><img src="{item.cover}" alt="">{item.title}</a> {item.year} · {item.genre} [if:item.rating]★ {item.rating}[/if]
[/each]

Section field values with counts (genres) — content.genres

A "Genres" strip (or cities, categories): the values of one section field with entry counts and the section list address filtered by the value. The field must have filtering turned on. Kind: list for your own markup; works on any page.

ParameterMeaningDefault
typeSection: its name (for example movies); if the address has a hyphen, use an underscore
fieldSection field name (genre by default)genre
limitHow many to show. From 1 to 100.30

  <a href="{item.url}">{item.title}</a> ({item.count})
[/each]

Section letters (A–Z catalog) — content.letters

A strip of letters (and digits) for a section — movies, vacancies, catalog: each has the section list address filtered by the first letter of the title and the entry count. Kind: list for your own markup; works on any page.

ParameterMeaningDefault
