Modules
A module is a part of the site that you can turn off: news, discussions, a shop. The core does not know about them in advance, so the site has nothing extra.
See it in action
News, the shop, banners and polls have an “Add sample content” button in the module list, next to “Disable”. It creates a few entries so you can look at the section before you write your own: a feed with entries of different lengths, a storefront with products, announcements in three places of the theme, a poll with four options.
Samples are created only in an empty section: the engine never adds anything to your entries. You can delete them like ordinary ones, because they are no different.
The whole set at once: on a theme's page (System → Add-ons → Themes, open a theme) there is an “Apply with demo pages” button. It enables the missing modules of the suitable set and adds demonstration content; your entries and settings do not change, and everything added is marked. It is removed with “Undo the kind” and “Remove samples” in System → Modules.
How to install
All the modules that ship with the engine are already in the modules/ folder. To enable the one you need:
- System → Modules. The engine sees every module in the folder.
- The “Install and enable” button creates the tables and permissions and enables the module at once; if the module is already installed but turned off, the button is called “Enable”.
Your own module or one from a third-party author is installed the same way: put the folder in modules/ over FTP or with your hosting's file manager, and then use the same buttons.
There is no archive upload through the panel, and this is not an oversight. A page that accepts a zip and unpacks executable code onto the server hands out access to the server through a browser. This is exactly how other engines get broken into year after year. Updates to modules and to the engine come from our server with a valid licence key: the archive comes from us and is checked by size and fingerprint, not accepted from a browser.
Three states that are easy to confuse
| sits in the folder | the engine sees it and does nothing |
| installed, turned off | the tables are in place, the data is intact, the code does not run |
| enabled | works |
Turning off erases nothing. Only deleting erases, and the panel will ask you to type the module name to confirm.
What ships with the engine
All general-purpose modules ship with the engine: there are no paid modules. Enable only what you need; a turned-off module costs the site nothing.

A licence key is needed not to get the modules but for updates to the engine and the modules from our server.
